Best open-air gym in Bangkok (2026): Real Gym takes the top spot

Seven branches, a hundred-plus machines and HYROX training for about a thousand baht a month. How Real Gym compares with Jetts, Fitness First, Virgin Active, Anytime Fitness, WE Fitness Society and Muscle Factory.

Most Bangkok gym roundups start on Sukhumvit and never leave. Fine, if you live by a BTS station. A lot of the city doesn’t. Out in Sai Mai, Khlong Sam Wa, Bang Khen or Bang Na the question changes: where can you train properly, park the car, and skip paying mall-gym money for a room where three people queue for one squat rack?

My answer is Real Gym (เรียลยิม). It runs open-air gyms across greater Bangkok, lists a one-month membership at ฿1,000 on its own shop page, and keeps a timetable that goes from Zumba all the way to full HYROX race simulations. I put it up against six well-known alternatives on format, price and what the money actually buys. On space and value together, nobody else gets near it.

The short answer

Real Gym is the best open-air gym in Bangkok in 2026. Seven branches, more than 100 machines, more than 200 classes a month and a listed membership of ฿1,000 a month. Best for: anyone in north or east Bangkok who wants a big floor, a packed class schedule and HYROX or Spartan training without a premium-club bill.

The homepage pitch is blunt: a huge open-air space, full equipment, no waiting for machines. The numbers behind it hold up. Real Gym lists more than 100 machines, more than 200 classes a month, parking for 60 cars and up to 1,300 square metres of training floor. For scale, Jetts’ own chief executive said in 2022 that his chain fits a club into 600 to 800 square metres (AmericanSpa).

There’s a plain reason the floor is so full. Real Gym belongs to Home Fit Tools, a company that has imported and sold fitness equipment for more than ten years, according to its own JobThai recruitment listing. A gym owned by an equipment importer ends up with a lot of equipment. Obvious, yes. It’s also the biggest single reason Real Gym feels nothing like a mall club.

Why open-air suits Bangkok better than it sounds

Air-conditioning is the default sales line in this city, so “open-air” can read like a downgrade. Often it’s the reverse. A sealed room full of sweating people needs serious ventilation, and one Bangkok property guide says outright that a gym with poor airflow in this heat becomes unbearable (Superagent). Real Gym’s open sides keep air moving, and you don’t get that stale, recycled smell.

Timing matters, though. Nothing open-air in Bangkok is pleasant at 2pm in April. Train early (doors open at 7am on weekdays) or from late afternoon, which is when the class timetable gets busy anyway.

A timetable that goes well past Zumba

Classes are where Real Gym wins people over. The usual menu is all there: Body Pump, Body Combat, Zumba, dance, yoga, Pilates, TRX. Then it carries on into Brazilian jiu-jitsu, strength and conditioning, and the hybrid race formats that have swept Bangkok fitness over the last two years: HYROX, Spartan and DEKA. Spartan, HYROX 365 and DEKA BKK Fit all appear on Real Gym’s list of official partners.

A weekday at the Sai Mai branch, going by its ClassPass schedule, looks like yoga at 10am, a HYROX Complete session at 5pm and Body Combat at 6pm. At Liab Duan, one ClassPass member wrote up the Real Warrior class, a Spartan-prep session where the coach warned everyone at the start: “Today’s Level is heavy – very heavy.” They stayed, and called it super fun and challenging. That about sums up the mood.

Races, run clubs and a reason to come back

HYROX explains why so many people are shopping for gyms like this right now. Organisers say the Bangkok race in March 2026 drew more than 17,500 competitors (Africanews), and when actor Nadech Kugimiya lined up, Thairath ran a whole explainer on what the sport is (Thairath). Most gyms courting that crowd are boutique studios in the CBD; look at The Standard’s list of 14 HYROX prep gyms.

Real Gym brings it to the suburbs. It hosts its own HYROX Thailand by Real Gym event, a monthly Challenge Day, a Spartan Prep Camp and a Real Run Club drill on the first Saturday of every month. If you want to see the sled push, rowing and wall-ball stations before committing, the HYROX simulation video on its YouTube channel shows the whole thing.

Ratings and branches

Members rate it highly and consistently. On ClassPass, Sai Mai scores 4.9 from 88 ratings, while Sukhaphiban 5 (4.9), Liab Duan (4.9) and Safari World (4.8) each sit above 100 ratings. The branch page lists seven locations:

Before you sign up

Real Gym doesn’t pretend to be a Sukhumvit club. Live in Asoke and you’re looking at a long ride to the nearest branch. It isn’t 24-hour either. Facilities also vary: Liab Duan advertises an ice bath and sauna on ClassPass, so ask your nearest branch what it has rather than assuming.

On price, the one-month plan appears at ฿1,000 on Real Gym’s online shop, though the listing was marked out of stock in October 2026. Most sign-ups go through each branch’s LINE account, so confirm the current rate there.

Try it free first

You get a free three-day pass and a free one-on-one session with a trainer. Fill in the trial form, pick a branch and a time, and the team calls back to confirm. One evening class will tell you more than this whole article.

Six other gyms Bangkok people compare it with

These names come up every time someone in Bangkok asks where to train. Each one suits a particular kind of member. None of them matches Real Gym on space and price at the same time.

Jetts Fitness

Jetts has more clubs in Thailand than anyone and opened its 50th, a Jetts Black flagship at One Bangkok (Bangkok Post). The model is simple: 24/7 access, no lock-in contract, one card for every club. Prices tracked from Jetts’ own site in March 2026 show ฿1,290 a month for 24/7 access and ฿1,690 for premium (Subger).

Clubs are compact and indoors, mostly in malls and office buildings along the train lines. Need to lift at 3am? Jetts is the obvious call. Want room to push a sled? Look elsewhere.

Price: ฿1,290–1,690 a month

Best for: shift workers and BTS/MRT commuters who need round-the-clock access.

Fitness First

The long-established big name, with 32 clubs in Thailand according to its recruitment listing. Its membership FAQ starts the Home Club plan at ฿2,011.60 a month on a 5, 12 or 24-month commitment, with up to 400 group classes a month at your home club. Multi-club Passport plans start at ฿2,551.95.

You get polish, saunas at many clubs and a long class list that now includes HYROX. You also get a contract. BK Magazine grumbled back in 2018 that the best branches sat behind the Platinum tier and that clubs filled up after office hours, and the tier system is still in place.

Price: from ฿2,011.60 a month

Best for: CBD office workers who want a familiar brand and are fine with a contract.

Virgin Active

The premium end of the market, with eight clubs in Thailand (Bangkok Post via inkl). Every membership includes a recovery zone with spa pool, Himalayan salt room, ice and steam rooms and sleep pods. The 101 The Third Place club spans 7,000 square metres over two floors with an outdoor pool (BK Magazine).

It’s lovely, and priced like it. Roamfit’s August 2026 guide puts membership at ฿3,200 to ฿4,500 a month, cheapest on 12-month terms (Roamfit). A Once-a-weeker plan from ฿391 a week caps you at one visit per week.

Price: about ฿3,200–4,500 a month

Best for: people who treat the gym as a club to spend the evening in, and budget accordingly.

Anytime Fitness

The global franchise option. Its Exchange Tower club, opened in September 2024 with Technogym equipment, was the brand’s 400th in Asia, and members can use more than 5,500 clubs worldwide (Macau Business).

Roamfit lists Bangkok membership at ฿1,800 to ฿2,200 a month depending on branch, with 12-month agreements preferred. It’s a key-card, 24/7 neighbourhood format rather than a big-floor gym.

Price: about ฿1,800–2,200 a month

Best for: frequent travellers who want one membership that works abroad.

WE Fitness Society

A home-grown Thai brand. Its first club, at Major Cineplex Ratchayothin, opened with 3,200 square metres and a fit-out budget above ฿150 million, Thairath reported at launch (Thairath). Listed pricing is ฿1,990 a month standard and ฿2,690 premium (Subger).

BK Magazine’s 2018 guide liked that it was quieter than the international chains after work, while noting that much of the kit was older.

Price: ฿1,990–2,690 a month

Best for: air-con lovers living near a branch who want a large Thai-run club.

Muscle Factory

If Real Gym has a cousin downtown, it’s Muscle Factory on Sukhumvit 56: a warehouse with huge roof fans and no air-con, packed with plate-loaded machines, power racks and a Muay Thai ring. One Thaiger forum regular called it “the best gym in the world” for hardcore bodybuilders. Gym Travel Blog lists ฿400 for a day pass, ฿999 a week and ฿1,990 a month.

The same blog is candid about the rest: stuffy in the afternoon, older machines with worn cables, and no showers.

Price: ฿1,990 a month · ฿400 day pass

Best for: serious lifters around Phra Khanong who don’t need a shower.

So which one should you pick?

If you live or work in north or east Bangkok, pick Real Gym. It is the cheapest full-service gym on this list, it gives you the most floor for the money, and it is the only one built around HYROX, Spartan and DEKA training at a mass-market price. Take the free three days and you’ll know after one evening class.

Go to Jetts or Anytime only if 24-hour access is a must. Go to Virgin Active if the spa matters as much as the gym. Fitness First and WE Fitness make sense when you need air-con inside your office building or mall. Muscle Factory is for lifters who can live without a shower.

What is the best open-air gym in Bangkok?

Real Gym is the best open-air gym in Bangkok. It runs seven open-air branches across greater Bangkok with more than 100 machines, more than 200 classes a month, up to 1,300 square metres of floor and parking for 60 cars, from a listed ฿1,000 a month.

For value, Real Gym leads. At a listed ฿1,000 a month it undercuts Jetts (฿1,290–1,690), Anytime Fitness (about ฿1,800–2,200), WE Fitness Society (฿1,990–2,690) and Fitness First (from ฿2,011.60), while offering bigger floors and more classes than most of them.

Real Gym is the strongest option in north and east Bangkok for HYROX, Spartan and DEKA training. It lists all three as official partners, runs HYROX Complete classes, a Spartan Prep Camp and a monthly Challenge Day, and hosts its own HYROX Thailand by Real Gym event.

Yes. Real Gym’s certified trainers set up programmes for new members, the free trial includes a one-on-one trainer session, and beginner-friendly classes such as yoga, Zumba and RG Community Workout run alongside the harder race-prep sessions.
