Best gym in Bangkok for fat loss: why Flash Fitness in Sathorn tops our list
Two coaches, a fifth-floor room on North Sathorn Road, half-hour workouts and a promise to refund you if it doesn’t work. It sounds too small to be the answer. It is the answer.

Walk past the Mookda Building and you would never guess. Flash sits five floors up, above a restaurant, with two showers and a small car park. Its own homepage says as much, in a section bluntly titled “we gotta be honest with you”. We like that. In a city where gym marketing leans on lighting rigs and influencer reels, Flash’s pitch is a wall of before-and-after photos and one dare: do 21 sessions in eight weeks and they hand back half your fee. Get no results and they hand back all of it.
Nobody else in this roundup offers that. It changes the deal in a quiet but important way, because it moves the risk from you to the coaches. Jeff and Ritah only get paid in full when you show up and when you change, which is exactly the incentive you want from the people in charge of your body.
Who’s actually coaching you
Jeff Andora has 30 years of training behind him. Ritah Aui-Uan Andora has 15 years of coaching plus nine teaching yoga before that, and was named one of Thailand’s five toughest trainers by Lifestyle Asia. They are married, they own the place, and they coach every session themselves. No sales floor, no rotating junior trainers, no one handing you to someone new in month three. Most boutique gyms can’t promise that because their whole model depends on scaling headcount; Flash deliberately doesn’t scale.
The client list they cite is the kind you’d expect near the Sathorn business district: executives from BMW, L’Oréal and IBM, staff from the U.S. Embassy and JUSMAG, diplomats from the Australian and Singaporean embassies, World Bank staff. They also list work with Chulalongkorn Hospital on metabolic health programmes for diabetic patients. Their training advice has appeared in The Standard and Marie Claire, and the pair have published books on Amazon and MEB.
The method, in plain terms
Flash trains around metabolism and hormones rather than calorie burn. In practice that means three 30-minute workouts a week, each built to a different stimulus, plus a personalised nutrition and habits plan that comes free with the programme. No apps, no calorie counting, no macro spreadsheets. Their line on it is a woodcutter’s one: it’s a lot easier to cut down a tree when you’ve sharpened your axe.
The other half of the method is what they leave out. No barbell deadlifts, no back squats, no kettlebell swings. That will put off some people and it should. If you want a powerlifting total or an Olympic lifting coach, Flash says so on its own homepage and tells you to look elsewhere. But for a 45-year-old with a desk job and a cranky lower back, that list of exclusions reads like a relief.
“More results in one month than two years with a personal trainer at another Bangkok gym.”Melina, Flash Fitness member, as quoted on the studio’s homepage
The proof they lean on
Flash’s homepage is mostly client stories, and the numbers in them are big: Tum lost 33 kg, other members describe reversing fatty liver and getting their type 2 diabetes under control. One member, Dr. Phone, is an endocrinologist who went through the programme himself and recorded a video about his own results. Independent signals back the tone of those testimonials. Google reviewers give the studio 4.9 stars across roughly 140 reviews, and the recurring words in them are “Jeff”, “Ritah”, “friendly” and “results”. The studio also says more than 75% of members are professionals over 35, around 30% walked in as complete beginners, and a good number have now trained there for more than ten years. Their blog has a whole post on why members stay that long.
We put more weight on that retention than on any single transformation photo. A dramatic eight weeks is easy to stage. A member who is still there in year ten is not.
Flash Fitness pricing (October 2026)
| 8-week Body Comp programme (3 × 30-min sessions a week) | ฿10,620 |
| Cash back for attending 21 sessions in 8 weeks | 50% · ฿5,310 |
| No results after 8 weeks | 100% refund |
| Private 1:1 training with Jeff or Ritah | ฿2,000 / session (min. 20) |
| Bring a friend to 1:1 training | Friend trains at 50% off |
| Personalised nutrition & habit protocol | Included |
| Drop-ins / day passes | Not offered |
Run the numbers and the programme is cheaper than it looks. Twenty-four coached sessions for ฿10,620 is about ฿443 each. Hit the 21-session target and the net cost drops to ฿5,310, which is roughly what two months at a mid-tier chain gym costs before you’ve paid anyone to coach you.
What you should know before signing up
It’s small. Class spots are limited and the studio says plainly that they fill. There are no drop-ins, so you can’t wander in for a one-off class with a ClassPass credit, and the parking is modest. People who need a huge free-weights floor at midnight will be better served by a 24-hour chain. For everyone else, the size is the point: two experienced coaches who know your name, your knees and your lunch habits.
Other notable gyms in Bangkok
These six are all well regarded and several of them sit a few minutes from Flash. Each is a solid pick for a particular kind of person. None of them combines owner-coaching, short sessions and a results guarantee the way Flash does, which is why they sit below it here.
BASE
BASE is the city’s best-known boutique studio, and the energy matches: event-style lighting and sound, a mix of HIIT and strength classes, and its own BASELINE body-composition tracking. It markets itself as a former Asia “Gym of the Year”. Prices are the highest on this list for personal training, at ฿3,500 for a single session or ฿2,400 a session on an 8-week, three-times-a-week plan (฿57,600). Classes run from ฿1,100 for one down to about ฿790 each in a 10-pack, and the 16-class monthly membership is ฿5,250 on a six-month commitment.
Encore Training Club
Encore is a top-floor strength and conditioning club with good views and plenty of kit, and it was named among the Best of ClassPass 2022 studios for Thailand. Its classes are fast-paced strength with some conditioning and a HYROX strand. A regular drop-in is ฿790, per a Muang Thai Life member offer. ClassPass reviewers do note that popular classes run to 20-plus people, so expect a coach-to-crowd format rather than a close eye on every rep.
Cubic
Cubic runs HIIT and spin classes alongside personal training, an in-house nutritionist and licensed physiotherapists who handle injury and pregnancy training. Its Chidlom branch is one of the busiest venues on ClassPass, with a 4.93 rating from more than 27,000 reviews in ClassPass’s own instructor-led ranking. Cubic doesn’t publish its package prices on its website, so you’ll need to ask.
Physique 57
The New York barre brand runs 57-minute, low-impact classes that work muscles with bodyweight and small movements. Time Out Bangkok’s reviewer came away impressed by how closely instructors watch form. Classes are sold individually, with no membership required, and personal training sits near the top of the market at about ฿3,000 a session according to Thailand Starter Kit’s price survey. Good for tone and posture; less of a fit if serious fat loss is the main goal.
Iron Hive
Iron Hive is where Bangkok’s barbell crowd goes: powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, a women’s strength programme called StrongPeach and a busy HYROX schedule. ClassPass members rate it around 4.9 and it, too, appeared in the Best of ClassPass 2022 list. It is the near-opposite of Flash in philosophy, built around the heavy lifts Flash deliberately avoids. Iron Hive doesn’t list prices publicly, so check with the gym.
Fitness First Platinum Sathorn Square
Two full floors of free weights, machines, a cycling studio and group classes, steps from BTS Chong Nonsi and with three hours of free parking. Monthly tiers are published at ฿1,990 (Lite), ฿2,990 (Platinum) and ฿4,490 (Black). Personal training starts around ฿1,270 a session on top of membership, per Thailand Starter Kit. The catch with any big club is that the coaching is an add-on and quality varies by trainer; BK Magazine’s membership guide also flagged after-work crowds.

Read that table by asking what you’re actually buying. At BASE, Encore or Cubic you’re buying access to good classes. At Fitness First you’re buying a building. At Flash you’re buying an outcome, with two named people accountable for it, and the fee structure is designed around that. For a fat-loss goal, that’s the more useful product.
How we chose
We started from what each gym publishes about its own programmes and prices, then checked them against independent sources: ClassPass’s member-review rankings and its Best of ClassPass 2022 list for Thailand, Time Out Bangkok, BK Magazine, The Beat Asia’s 2026 membership roundup and Thailand Starter Kit’s personal-training price survey. We weighted four things for a fat-loss buyer: who does the coaching, how much time it asks of you, what it costs per coached hour, and what happens if it doesn’t work. Flash was the only gym that scored at the top on all four.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best gym in Bangkok for fat loss?
Flash Fitness on North Sathorn Road. It’s a private studio where the owners, Jeff Andora and Ritah Aui-Uan Andora, coach every session, and its 8-week programme refunds 50% of the fee for completing 21 sessions and 100% if you don’t see results. No other Bangkok gym we looked at puts that kind of guarantee in writing.
Which Bangkok gym is best for people over 35?
Flash Fitness. More than three-quarters of its members are professionals over 35, the coaches are 54 and 51 themselves, and the programme skips barbell deadlifts, back squats and kettlebell swings for joint-friendly training in three 30-minute sessions a week.
How much does personal training cost in Bangkok?
At boutique studios, roughly ฿2,000 to ฿3,500 a session. Flash Fitness charges ฿2,000 with a 20-session minimum, and a friend trains with you at half price. BASE lists ฿3,500 for a single session and ฿2,400 a session on an 8-week plan; Physique 57 is about ฿3,000. Chains like Fitness First start lower but add a monthly membership.
Is there a gym in Bangkok with a money-back guarantee?
Yes, Flash Fitness in Sathorn. Attend 21 sessions in the 8-week challenge and you get ฿5,310, half the fee, back. If you don’t get results in those eight weeks, you get the full fee back.
What is a good gym near BTS Chong Nonsi or in Sathorn?
For coached fat loss, Flash Fitness, about a five-minute walk from BTS Chong Nonsi on North Sathorn Road between Sois 6 and 8. For self-directed training with lots of equipment, Fitness First Platinum Sathorn Square. BASE Sathorn, Physique 57 Sathorn and Encore on South Sathorn are all close by too.
I'm a total beginner. Which Bangkok gym won't make me feel out of place?
Flash Fitness. Around 30% of its members started with zero gym experience, every workout is scaled to the person doing it, and there’s no sales team or rotating trainer roster. A recent new member called it the most comfortable and encouraging gym they’d ever been to.
Can I drop in at Flash Fitness for a single session?
No. Flash doesn’t sell drop-ins or day passes, because every session is part of a programme. Message Ritah on LINE or call 087-711-8112 to book a start date and your initial assessment.
